Projects are always a fun way to keep our minds thinking, dreaming, and working towards a goal.  Our 1973 Datsun 240Z restoration has approached the finish line and all of our efforts have paid off - this is the final chapter in the book of The Green Machine/Baby Hulk Restoration Blog.  Over the course of this Datsun 240Z's stay with us, we have serviced nearly every aspect of it's being.  From the early stages of a non-running L24, to removing all the cancer & blemishes from the body, to reassembling and redressing in new finished surfaces, we have enjoyed restoring this all original Datsun 240Z.

Not every aspect of this restoration was in the plans from the start.  In order to realize the owner's dreams, we had to take on a few tasks that were not initially anticipated.  The engine and transmission were in less than expected condition, resulting in quite a bit more attention than originally expected.  A mid-progress visit from the owner ended with a change to apply a multiple stage paint rather than the original-style single coat like Nissan did from the factory.  A few deviations from the originally drawn map but it made a world of difference.

Before it left us, we took the opportunity to go for one last drive to make sure everything was at its peak condition and to sneak in a few pictures in the desert landscape.  We hope you enjoy these photos as much as enjoyed having the opportunity to work on this car.

By the time you read this, this Datsun 240Z will be back in its owner's hands, waiting for the snow to melt away from its home state’s cold climate.  We can visualize it backed into the garage just waiting for the cool spring air to warm enough to go for that first cruise of the year.

So as we bid farewell to the “Little Hulk”, we are already looking ahead to our next Z project, which will be a bit different from a typical Z Car Restoration.  This 1977 Datsun 280Z is a fun case of "Less and More."  We say this because at first glance, there is obviously "Less" roof than a normal 280Z.  As for the “More” part, follow along in future blog posts and you will see there are More fun, exciting and unusual tasks and goals to accomplish on this project.  So, Let the journey begin!
