With a solid body now in place, we can turn our focus to supporting the 1973 240z as it does it's daily duties.  The suspension system is where our eyes and wrenches are pointed to.  This car, being original everything, will be receiving a fair bit of attention.

Upon disassembling the front suspension, we observed exactly how original this car was.  When removing the original Strut Inserts it was discovered that the factory shock oil was still inside the tubes!  So to bring our Datsun 240z’s suspension back to life, we are installing new Strut Inserts in the original (and now cleaned) Strut Assemblies.  With a new strut and Upper Strut Mount Insulator installed, we can now work our way inboard.  The Lower Ball Joint is checked and serviced.  A variety of new bushings are installed to secure the front end; all items such as the Sway Bar Links and Sway Bar Mounts, the Steering Coupler and Rack Bushings and Boots, and the Strut Rod bushings are all replaced.  The Tie Rods are replace with new to keep the steering sharp as well.

For the rear suspension, similar improvements are being made.  Strut Inserts and Lower Control Arm Bushings are installed as well in their rear-ward fitment.  The Spindle Pins and their hardware are sorted as well.  Where the front end had the steering controls to be of concern, the rear has the Differential.  The Mustache Bar is refreshed with new urethane mount bushings while the Differential Mount Insulator is swapped for a new piece.  Finally, a new Arrestor Strap is put in place and all is completed.

All of these improvements to the suspension will make this car a joy to drive again once it is finished and back on the road.  We are working away nice and steady and are anxious to show you what is next.
