With the restoration of this 1973 Datsun 240Z, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel – both figuratively and literally. Some light may be coming from all of the beautiful exterior lights and lenses that have been mounted into place. Or it could also be that the “bright-work” is affixed to the car again and those shiny chrome surfaces beautifully reflect the shop lights and sunshine off its mirror finish. Or, literally, it could be because we are seeing the end of the project approaching. Either way it is a good thing to see this Datsun 240Z looking more and more like a complete car.

Here at Z Car Source, we have been working away at the final reassembly and finishing of this 1973 240Z. Little “bits and bobs” such as Rubber Bumpers, Gas Door Flap and Bumpers, Wiper Boots and the like are being set in place. Not-so-little things like freshly Chrome Plated Bumpers are being installed with new Bumper Guard Rubber Strips. Overall, we have exited the rolling chassis stage and have firmly cemented this Z’s place in Restored Vintage Car territory.

Doing a quick walk-around inspection, let’s highlight some of the quick touches to the car that are making this one to stand out:

Various rubber finishing pieces have been installed throughout the 240Z to ensure squeaks and rattles are at a minimum and panel gap fitment is properly aligned.

In addition to the regular finishing on this vehicle, the owner has elected to add a few simple touches to make those moments of "windows down, 70 miles an hour, classic tunes on the radio" a far more enjoyable reality. A second speaker was added to get a little more from the original radio that was left in place - we love keeping this car as period correct as possible by using the original radio! While the power antenna on this 240Z was not original, it was also not functioning. So an Antenna Rebuild solved that problem, and now the tunes are ready to play.
