Over the last 2 posts, we introduced this 1983 Nissan 280ZX and went over the background, engine, transmission, fuel system, suspension, steering, brakes, electrical and AC.  So what is left?  All of the pretty work.

So, while this 280ZX was overall in decent shape when we got it, it did need quite a bit of cosmetic work done.  The bodywork was generally limited to the damage we found in the quarter panel, plus some general “dents and dings”.  Once this was all removed, the car was ready for paint.

1983 Nissan 280ZX Rear repairs

A full paint job in the original gray color was done and all of the major components were reinstalled.  To top off the look of the exterior, our customer opted for a sleek white pin striping.  And the result is Gorgeous!

Because the interior was looking a bit worn, we replaced the carpet with a new Sewn-molded carpet kit.  Rather than keeping the original low back seats that had separate headrests, our customer opted to switch out the seats for reupholstered high back seats, for a sleeker look.  New seat belts were installed, and a few of the interior panels repaired and re-dyed.  To top off the newly redone interior, the worn out steering wheel was replaced with a black leather wrapped NRG wheel – the icing on this beautiful cake!

So while this 1983 280ZX did not receive a ground up restoration, it got everything it need to bring it back to life.  Not every 40+ year old car needs a complete re-do – and this car was a perfect example of that.  We started with a very solid car – and the results are stunning.  Another happy customer, and another beautiful Z!
